Certified Breakthrough Parenting® Instructor Live Certification Training
1. Here’s some background on our world-famous program.
We put more than 30,000 hours of work into making this program really clear, which has been much appreciated by students in the program (70% of enrollees come by referral from previous graduates!).
Many graduates have described this program as “life changing” and “the clearest program they had ever seen.”
The program is completely self-standing, so no particular credentials are required to enroll in this program. Over our 25 years of teaching instructors, we have had graduates with MFT, LCSW, PsyD, MD, RN, MA, BA, AA backgrounds, school teachers of all levels, Drug Counselors, and more. The only thing we cannot teach you is how to feel comfortable in front of a group of people. If you can handle that, we will give you everything else you need to be successful.
2. The Breakthrough Parenting program is based on solid Ph.D. research into what really works in parenting and family relationships, continuous internal feedback from 30 years of providing parenting classes and coaching to different populations ourselves, and continuous external feedback from thousands of parenting instructors we have Trained and Certified across the world.
We have come to know what works with a very large variety of populations, and have put much effort into providing professional training programs that are famously clear and to the point.
The program is completely self-contained, not assuming any specific educational background. The only thing we cannot teach you is how to feel comfortable in front of a group of people. If you know you can handle that well, we will teach you how to offer parenting classes as well as one-on-one parent coaching both effectively and efficiently.
3. Our focus has always been on teaching instructors how to give parents real skills that work also when the parents are stressed out or tired.
This is very different from just giving parents hundreds or thousands of tips to memorize (the “numerous tips” tend to be forgotten when they are most needed, or the parent remembers the tips but is unable to connect them with their unique situation).
With “skills” instead, you are able to help them actually do in class what they will then be able to do at home (because they have “already done it” so it is like “muscle memory” that doesn’t rely on the parent being rested, ready and stress free).
4. Many parents told us why they decided to take a Breakthrough Parenting class after having already gone through other comprehensive parenting programs.
The reason they did this was that they were desperate to learn methods that work with today’s children.
When they tried the techniques they learned in other parenting programs, their children said, “Mom! Now you’re doing that parenting thing again!!!,” and laughed at her.
That will never happen with what is taught in Breakthrough Parenting, because no manipulative methods are used.
Manipulative methods worked well in the 1970s, but today’s children become “street smart” at a younger age from seeing a lot of manipulation on TV and in movies.
We instead teach methods that make the children want to take responsibility for what they do, with appreciation for their parents’ guidance(!).
5. Even teenagers feel lost and disconnected when they are not getting any guidance from their parents.
Providing children with guidance instead of the usual “Do this! Do that!” takes both knowledge and skill, but we have found that the vast majority of parents are actually able to learn this within the time span of a normal Breakthrough Parenting class series.
6. From a practical standpoint, it is crucial that a comprehensive parenting program is designed for continuous enrollment. This means that you can have a few parents show up for your first class, have them be amazed and tell their neighbors and friends, who will then call you to ask when they can start. With Breakthrough Parenting, you can just tell them to come to your next weekly session and the following nine, because you continue with Lesson 1 immediately after Lesson 10, and the program is designed to allow parents to start anytime.
Imagine if you had to tell new enrollees, “Sorry, the first class series already started, please call back in two and a half months when the next series starts…”
You avoid that with the Breakthrough Parenting program, as it was designed from the beginning for continuous enrollment so that parents can start any week, whether you are on Lesson 1 or Lesson 7 or any other lesson.
7. This Instructor Training and Certification Program doesn’t just teach you the content. It also teaches you how to teach the program most effectively to different populations and how to give parents real skills immediately, with all the proven best practices for parenting classes and one-on-one parent coaching, and you also get the necessary documents from us that will make family court judges very happy that you are available.
We also show you how to customize the program for your own personal style and for specific populations if you want.
We have had great satisfaction from past graduates of this professional training program for 23 years. Several agencies have even been continuously enrolling new staff in this program for 15+ years, after seeing how their staff was able to provide parenting classes at a professional level immediately after graduation.
Many county agencies and family court judges often accept only Breakthrough Parenting, based on past experience with many parenting programs.
Wherever they can, they write specific orders for Breakthrough Parenting only, with nothing else accepted, and they have talked at their own professional conferences about the huge difference they have seen when parents appear before them after having gone through a Breakthrough Parenting class.
Those parents are the only ones who are focused on what is best for their children instead of on what’s wrong with their ex-spouses, and they are able to communicate clearly about what is likely to be the best arrangements for their children’s custody.
Court-ordered parents who come to class being angry about “having to do time like this” often sit with their arms crossed the first 3-4 classes. After that, even the burliest characters have said, “If I had had this program 10 or 15 years ago, my life would have been completely different!” Many of them even started crying (yes, really!)
8. All parent materials are available in either English or a high quality Spanish translation that has been very well tested with Spanish-speaking parents across the U.S. and Latin America.
All parent materials are also designed to be easily translatable to other languages, and this goes also for all the illustrative graphics that help visual learners.
9. This instructor training is scheduled to be taught by one of our #1 rated Master Instructors. They have long experience teaching parents and instructors in the CBPI Certification Training program, and have taught other parenting programs before seeing how Breakthrough Parenting was the only one that had a proven system for giving parents skills (as opposed to “knowledge” or “tips”). They have also taught parents in both English and Spanish for many years.
10. For enrollments this month we also offer you a license to print, photocopy, or emailunlimited quantities of the Breakthrough Parenting Workbook for use in your parenting classes and/or parent coaching programs, at no extra charge (reg. $197.00) and with no per copy fees.
If you have more questions about our program, we will be happy to answer them from our more than 30 years of experience teaching parenting to the most varied populations.
